Guy Few is a Canadian multi-instrumentalist based in Ontario who works as a trumpet soloist, pianist, and educator, and is currently associated with Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo where he teaches trumpet and collaborative music while remaining active as a performer across Canada. He has built a career as a versatile soloist, appearing with orchestras and chamber groups throughout Canada and the United States, including collaborations with ensembles such as the Penderecki String Quartet, Amici String Quartet, and Amati String Quartet in chamber-focused programs that often combine trumpet repertoire with strings and bassoon. In addition to performance, he serves as Artistic Director of NUMUS Concerts, a Kitchener–Waterloo-based new music organization founded in 1985 that presents contemporary and experimental classical works, positioning him in a leadership role within Canada’s new music community. His recorded work includes releases such as “Bacchanale: Music for Trumpet & Bassoon” (2007) and “Canadian Concerto Project, Vol. 1” (2013), which highlight his dual focus on trumpet performance and collaborative composition projects. Known for combining trumpet and piano performance in the same career, he has also been featured in CBC reporting on his personal recovery from a neurological condition that affected his playing ability, further shaping his narrative as a performer committed to returning to the stage. His work spans solo performance, chamber collaboration, recording, and arts leadership, making him a central figure in Ontario’s contemporary classical and crossover music scene.
